Things to do
Hiking
With so many beautiful trails, you can truly go on your own adventure. There are trailheads all over the valley. Here is a list of our favorite Aspen hiking trails:
Smuggler Mountain - Moderate. (approx. 40 min-1 hr to top). Walking distance to town + a great hike.
Hunter Creek Loop - Moderate. (approx. 2 hours). This is one of our favorite hikes - walking distance from town.
Ute Trail - Difficult-BUT SHORT. DO IT! (30-40 minutes to the top). Great view of Aspen City.
Aspen Mountain - Extreme. (approx. 3 hours) - take the Ute trail and continue all the way to top. Take the gondola down.
Rio Grande Trail - Easy and scenic for a walk / bike ride. You can also take this trail all the way to lunch at Woody Creek Tavern (a fun Mexican restaurant).
Cathedral Lake - *Requires car to get there. Difficult but extremely beautiful hike. Pack sandwiches + approx. 4 hr hike.
